Suicide Car Bomb Hits Pakistan Coast Guard Camp in Gwadar

The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for a suicide vehicle-borne improvised explosive device attack on a Pakistan Coast Guards camp in the Gwadar district of Balochistan on the evening of 3 July. The group said a member of its Majeed Brigade rammed an explosives-laden Mazda vehicle into the camp around 6:32 pm.

Following the blast, BLA fighters from the Fateh Squad allegedly entered the camp and engaged surviving security personnel at close range. The BLA stated that over 30 security personnel were killed and dozens injured, adding that the toll could rise because bodies may be trapped under debris.

The attacker was identified by the BLA as Attaullah Baloch, also known as Ajmal. The group said it would release additional information and a video of the operation through its official channels. No independent verification of the claims was available, and Pakistani authorities had not issued an official statement at the time of publication.

A separate report, based only on a headline, stated that a suicide attack killed three people and injured 15 in Gwadar, but it provided no further details. It is unclear whether this refers to the same incident.

Gwadar hosts a strategic deep-sea port and is a key hub of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. The BLA has long targeted security forces and infrastructure projects in the region, which it considers part of its campaign for Baloch independence.
