Privacy Policy

WORFLICT presents global conflict news on a source-linked map. This policy explains how information is handled when you use the worflict.com website and the WORFLICT iOS or Android application.

Effective date: August 1, 2026

1. Who we are and scope

WORFLICT is an independently operated conflict-news map. This policy applies to the website, mobile applications, news feed, and notification features.

For privacy questions or data requests, contact [email protected].

2. Information we handle

  • Website technical data: When you access the site, hosting or security infrastructure may temporarily process standard server-log information such as IP address, browser/device type, request time, referring page, and requested URL.
  • Language preference: Your EN/TR selection is stored only in your browser's local storage (localStorage). WORFLICT does not use advertising or analytics cookies.
  • Mobile notification data: If you enable notifications, we process a Firebase messaging token, app language, critical-news setting, and the continents/countries you follow. This is used only to deliver your selected notifications.
  • On-device preferences: Language and notification selections are stored locally by the application.
Information we do not request: WORFLICT has no user accounts and does not request your name, email address, phone number, payment details, or precise device location. The app does not request location permission and contains no advertising/tracking or behavioral analytics SDK.

3. Why we use information

We use information to provide the website and app, protect security and availability, remember your language, deliver notifications you request, and diagnose technical problems. Processing may be based on providing the service you request, your consent, and our legitimate interests in operating and securing the service.

We do not sell personal information, build advertising profiles, or use it for third-party targeted advertising.

4. News and artificial intelligence

Event discovery is based on GDELT data and publicly available reporting from linked publishers. Google Gemini may be used to create or translate headlines and short summaries. This processing concerns public news material, not personal information supplied by a user.

Automated summaries and translations can contain errors. Verify critical claims through the original source linked on each news card.

5. Service providers and external links

  • Google Firebase / Firebase Cloud Messaging: serving the news feed, storing notification preferences, and delivering push notifications;
  • Apple Push Notification service: delivering notifications to iOS devices;
  • OpenStreetMap Foundation: providing map tiles; your device may connect directly to OSM servers while displaying the map;
  • Hosting and security providers: keeping the service secure and available.

When you follow a link to a publisher or another external service, its own privacy policy applies. You can review OpenStreetMap's practices in the OSMF Privacy Policy.

6. Retention and deletion

  • Our notification registration is retained for no more than 35 days after its last update. It is deleted immediately when you disable every notification option, and invalid tokens are removed automatically.
  • Local browser and app preferences remain on your device until you clear them or uninstall the app.
  • Technical and security logs are retained only as long as reasonably necessary for operations, security, and legal requirements.
  • News translations and feed records are retained for no more than 150 days and do not contain a user profile.

To delete your notification registration, turn off every notification option in the app. You may also submit a deletion request to [email protected].

7. Security and international transfers

We apply reasonable technical and organizational safeguards. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure. Our providers operate global infrastructure, so information may be processed outside your country; contractual and legal safeguards are used where applicable.

8. Your rights and choices

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, and request portability of your information. You can change notification permission in iOS/Android settings and notification topics in WORFLICT settings at any time.

Contact [email protected] to make a request. We may ask only for information needed to verify you and the relevant app installation. You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

9. Children's privacy

WORFLICT is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Contact us if you believe such information has been processed so it can be deleted.

10. Changes

We may update this policy when the service or legal requirements change. We will publish the current version on this page with a new effective date and may provide an in-app or website notice for material changes.
