Bomb Kills Three at Moscow Restaurant

Three people died and at least 21 were wounded when a bomb exploded outside an Italian restaurant in central Moscow on Saturday evening, Russian authorities reported.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin described the attack as a "brutal terrorist act" in a social media post on Sunday, but did not attribute responsibility. The victims are being treated in city hospitals, he added.

According to RIA Novosti, Russia's Anti-Terrorism Committee stated that a woman attempted to enter the Balzi Rossi restaurant but was stopped by a security guard. The blast killed the woman, the guard, and a patron.

The restaurant was closed for a private event at the time. Footage from the scene showed heavily armed law enforcement officers, ambulances, and emergency vehicles. Authorities have not named suspects or established a motive.

The Kommersant newspaper, citing unnamed sources, reported the device may have been intended for guests on the terrace and might have been detonated remotely, with the woman possibly unaware she was carrying a bomb. This has not been confirmed by officials.

The explosion comes amid heightened security for military officials following assassinations blamed on Kyiv. So far, investigators have drawn no direct link between Saturday's blast and those earlier attacks or the war in Ukraine.
