Police received a report of gunfire around 19:30 in a district of Odesa. Employees of the Odesa District Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centre were conducting public notification procedures when an unknown man fired several pistol shots at them, according to the National Police.
Four recruitment centre staff were wounded. One was hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the back near the lungs, while the other three sought medical help independently. All received necessary medical care.
Police later detained a 32-year-old man suspected of the attack. Preliminary findings indicated the shots were fired from a Flobert-calibre pistol, as reported by police and Ukrainian media.
Investigators opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 114-1 of Ukraine's Criminal Code, concerning obstruction of the lawful activities of the Armed Forces and other military formations. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
The incident occurred on Kosmonavtiv Street in the Cheremushky neighbourhood, local media said. Shortly after the attack, the suspect reportedly barricaded himself in a flat before being apprehended.
