Five killed in Ukrainian drone strike on Wildberries warehouse near Moscow

A Ukrainian drone attack targeted the Moscow region overnight, killing five people and wounding at least six, according to regional governor Andrei Vorobiov. The strike caused fires at an industrial zone in Novosiolki, including a warehouse used by the e-commerce giant Wildberries, often called Russia's Amazon.

Vorobiov said air defences repelled the assault and that a fire at the warehouse had been extinguished. An electrical substation and an administrative building were also damaged. The reported toll in the Moscow region marks an unusually heavy loss for the capital area, which lies hundreds of kilometres from the front line.

In the Belgorod region bordering Ukraine, local authorities announced that a drone hit a car late Monday, killing one person and wounding two others. Further north, in Leningrad region, governor Alexandr Drazdenko said 17 drones were shot down and one person was injured, with a strike igniting a fire at a Wildberries warehouse.

Wildberries confirmed the fire at its Leningrad facility. In Tver region, acting governor Vitali Koroliov reported that a drone fragment partially damaged a warehouse wall in Emmaus, with no injuries. Ukraine has increasingly targeted Wildberries sites in recent weeks, striking locations across eleven Russian regions as part of a campaign to disrupt the economy.

Russia's defence ministry said 320 Ukrainian drones were intercepted overnight across nineteen regions. It also claimed strikes on four cargo vessels in Ukrainian ports, including two dry-cargo ships in Mykolaiv and Pivdennyi. In Ukraine's Sumy region, governor Oleh Khryhorov reported three civilians killed by Russian guided bombs, and Kherson saw two wounded in another strike.
