Ukrainian Drones Hit Russian Warehouse, Kill Civilans in Multiple Regions

Ukrainian drones struck deep inside Russia overnight and into Sunday, causing deaths in several regions and hitting a warehouse operated by the country's largest online retailer, Wildberries. Regional officials reported at least five to eight people killed.

In the Saratov region, a residential building in the city of Engels was hit, killing two people, Governor Roman Busargin said. Both Engels, which houses a military airbase, and the city of Saratov, home to a major oil refinery, sustained damage to civil infrastructure. Ukraine's military later claimed it had attacked both the refinery and the airbase, sparking fires.

A drone also struck the Udmurtia region, where acting governor Olga Abramova reported three dead and two injured. In the Belgorod border region, the local task force said three people were killed and five injured by Ukrainian strikes. These figures, combined with the Saratov deaths, suggest at least eight fatalities, though one source put the total at five.

The Wildberries warehouse in Novosemeykino, Samara region, was hit and caught fire, according to governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev. He said there were no casualties there. The site lies roughly 800 kilometers from Ukraine's most forward positions. Since mid-July, Ukraine has targeted about a dozen Wildberries sites, aiming to disrupt the company's operations and strain Russia's economy.

Russia's defence ministry said it shot down 635 Ukrainian drones overnight, including over occupied Crimea and the Black and Azov seas. It did not specify how many reached their targets. Meanwhile, Russia launched 133 drones at Ukraine, with 24 hitting their marks, per Ukraine's air force. Strikes on Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv later killed at least two people, local authorities said.
